The KONUS 60mm x 800mm K-J AZ Refractor Telescope is perfect for the astronomy beginner. The sleek Italian design of this telescope makes it easy for anyone to handle while observing the sky. The 800mm tube provides a longer focal length than other telescopes of this type for added power. This telescope has an AZ mount, which ensures stability for adjustments from side to side or up and down. A micro adjustable stabilizer bar provides precise altitude adjustments and increased stability when viewing objects. A moon filter is also included which increases the contrast of the moon enabling the user to see more details in the sky. This Refractor Telescope gathers light through the objective lens and then magnifies it through the eyepiece. Refractor telescopes are perfect for observing stars and planets and for terrestrial observation. What does it all mean? 60mm x 800mm The first number refers to the size of the objective lens or the aperture of the telescope. Larger apertures provide a brighter image with greater resolution, especially in dim lighting or deep sky observation. The second number (800mm) refers to the focal length of the telescope or the distance the light travels from the lens to the focused image. Longer focal lengths provide more power through a variety of eyepieces. AZ An Alt-azimuth mount allows the telescope to move from side to side or up and down. Refractor This type of telescope was invented by Galileo and collects light through the lens and passes it to the eyepiece where it is magnified. Refractor telescopes produce images with greater detail and contrast.
