Orion
With most eyepieces, stars look sharp in the center of the field of view, but start getting fuzzy and flared toward the edge. To get better, "flat-field" performance, you have to pay big bucks for exotic ocular designs. Not anymore. Orion Edge-On eyepieces deliver remarkably flat fields -- pinpoint-sharp stars from the center to the edge of the viewing circle. And best of all, their price won't flatten your wallet! You'll be as amazed by the value as you are by the views. Their 5- or 6-element optical design eliminates field curvature for distortion-free images. And Edge-Ons are parfocal, so you can change eyepieces without refocusing. With their big eye lenses, fully multi-coated lens elements, long eye relief, generous fields of view, twist-up eyeguards, and 1.25" barrels threaded for filters, Edge-On eyepieces have the features and quality you'll appreciate. Get the eyepieces with a flat-field edge -- Orion Edge-Ons! -

Orion
Enjoy comfortably long eye relief, a wide 55-degree apparent field of view, and fully multi-coated, 6-element optics that include two elements crafted from special ED glass. "ED" stands for "extra-low dispersion," optical glass that boasts superior refractive properties compared to standard optical glass. The result is 20mm eye relief for every focal length, reduced chromatic aberration, and excellent image sharpness. Even the short-focal-length Epics sport nice, wide eye lenses, not small peep-holes! The series is parfocal, so little or no refocusing is needed when switching from one Epic eyepiece to another. Each eyepiece comes with two end caps and a durable plastic tube case. Barrel diameter, 1.25". Threaded for filters. -

Edge-On Planetary eyepieces bring flat-field performance to solar system viewing in the form of six medium- and high-magnification focal lengths. Each employs a sophisticated 7-element lens design reminiscent of exotic, high-priced oculars. This design renders an optically flat image that's sharply focused from center to edge of the wide 55-degree apparent field of view. The barrel distortion and field curvature aberrations common in standard eyepiece designs are virtually gone. Edge-On Planetary eyepieces let you push the power, whether you're canvassing the lunar terminator or studying the Jovian cloud belts. The optics are fully multi-coated for high light transmission, and each eyepiece has 20mm eye relief for viewing comfort. Other nice touches: blackened lens edges, pop-down rubber eyeguards, and 1.25" barrels threaded for filters. -
Tele Vue
This eyepiece has the largest true field possible for 2" eyepiece holders -3 times the field area of any 1 1/4" eyepiece. The focal plane is placed at the end of the barrel to minimize vignetting. Performance with Schmidt-Cassegrains is remarkable since it avoids the image degradation and severe vignetting which occurs when using telecompressors. Long eye-relief and unique adjustable eye guard for eyeglass wearers. -
Tele Vue
Your telescope's focuser is used to compensate for your near- or far-sightedness; DIOPTRX compensates for your astigmatism. These units attach and lock onto the tops of over 20 long eye-relief Tele Vue eyepieces to achieve the sharpest full-field viewing possible. DIOPTRX models are available in 1/4 diopter steps, from 1/4 up to 3.5 diopters, and are rotatable for tuning to the best orientation. A series of engraved letters on the barrel helps to monitor orientation. Simply choose the DIOPTRX model that matches your eyeglass prescription for astigmatism. All lenses are multi-coated glass in anodized aluminum housings with rubber eyeguards The visual experience in astronomy is maximized by stripping away limitations: the limitations of the observing location (dark skies and steady seeing) the limitations of the telescope (aperture, field, resolution and contrast) the limitations of the eyepiece (field, resolution and contrast) the limitations of our eyesight (e.g., astigmatism) Tele Vue has historically been dedicated to overcoming the first three of these limitations: with wide angle, flat field telescopes easily portable for traveling to great observing locations matching ultra-wide angle eyepieces with full field image quality to generate what we call "spacewalk" viewing and a variety of long eye relief eyepieces to allow eyeglass wearers to enjoy the maximum visual experience To overcome the fourt -

Tele Vue
By limiting the field to 60 deg. (a Radian = 57.3 deg.) and establishing a uniform 20mm eye-relief, Tele Vue reworked the Nagler concept using the latest glass types to achieve optimum full field sharpness, freedom from distortion, freedom from ghosting (for critical planetary viewing) along with a unique adjustable eyeguard assembly which Tele Vue calls "Instadjust" Instadjust was developed from the need for proper eye position for non-eyeglass wearers. It is essential, since with Radian's long eye-relief, non-eyeglass wearers would easily tend to get too close to the eyepiece, resulting in vignetting the field, just as you would moving out from the exit pupil. The click-stop, Instadjust eyeguard permits fast, accurate positioning of the eye to the exit-pupil with maximum suppression of environmental stray light. Instadjust is topped off by a soft (for comfort and eyeglass protection) fold-down rubber eyeguard and protective cap. Usual Tele Vue features such as full multicoating, blackened lens edges, parfocalization, and grip-ring complement the Radian line. -

Vixen
These Vixen brand eyepieces (6 to 8 elements) are a special breed, using the rare earth glass lanthanum in one of their field lenses, for almost total freedom from any visual aberrations. All focal lengths have a comfortable 20mm of eye relief. Even when using the 2.5mm LV eyepiece on a telescope, you'll have eye relief of 20mm! These eyepieces also feature soft rubber eyecups, rubber coated bodies, and fully multicoated lenses for optical excellence. -
Meade
This 1.25" modified achromatic (Kellner) design has a detachable 6' DC power cord that plugs into the drive base of all Meade LX3, LX5, LX6, Premier, LX90 (using the #909 accessory port module), LX100, and LX200 Schmidt-Cassegrains and ED refractors. The telescope itself powers the reticle's red LED and controls its brightness. The illuminator can not be plugged into the 9 to 12 volt auxiliary power outputs on other brand telescopes or into the 12 volt auxiliary output on the base of the Meade LX50. Such misuse will burn out the 3 volt LED of the illuminator and is not covered by warranty. The illuminator LED has an expected life of 10,000 hours of use if operated with the correct 3-volt input (zero hours if you plug it into 12 volts). The eyepiece has a dual crosshair reticle. The top of the eyepiece rotates to focus the crosshairs sharply to match your eyesight. For guiding tolerance purposes with your particular scope, you can calculate the area of sky subtended by the small central box formed by the dual crosshairs by aiming at a star near the celestial equator. Turn off the telescope drive and count how many seconds it takes for the star to drift from one side of the box to the other. One second of time equals 15 arc seconds of sky. The eyepiece has a soft turndown rubber eyecup for eyeglass use. -
