Orion
Orion Dobsonians have always been known for superb optical and mechanical quality, wonderful ease of use, and remarkably affordable prices. One other thing they - and almost all other Dobs on the market - have had in common: you pushed the telescope to your observing target by hand. Until now. Orion is pleased to herald another giant leap in Dobsonian evolution with the introduction of the SkyQuest XTg series of fully motor driven GoTo Dobsonians. Now, pointing a Dob to even the most elusive of NGC curiosities is as easy as pushing a button or two on the XTg Dobsonians' illuminated hand controller. High-torque servo motors guided by two pairs of high-resolution encoders then slew the telescope right to your object of interest - any of over 42,000 objects in the GoTo controller's database. No more nudging the telescope tube continuously to keep the object from drifting out of the field of view, either. The XTg automatically tracks the object's motion, keeping it centered in the eyepiece while you savor the view. What's more, the closed-loop electronics of the XTg let you move the telescope manually - or endure the accidental bump - without losing orientation for accurate, automated GoTo pointing! -

Short Tube 6 Inch Newtonian Reflector Telescope. This is large aperture reflector at the bargain price that makes your introduction to serious high-power viewing affordable. This 6 inch reflector scope boasts a "short tube" design, with a built-in corrector that yields an 1400mm focal length with just a 19 inch primary tube. As a result, this scope packs a serious high-power punch, with magnification up to 400x making it ideal for lunar and planetary observation. You can see outstanding detail when viewing the moon you'll spot the Rings of Saturn and the Moons of Jupiter. Included is an adjustable full-sized aluminum tripod with a built-in accessory tray. This scope has an Equatorial Mount, so it can be polar aligned to track the movements of stars parade across the night sky. Use the declination circle, hour circle and latitude scale to quickly locate any celestial body. Thanks to precision worm gears and a substantial counter weight, the telescope can be balanced so that the slightest finger touch turn of the flexi cables will move the telescope with a smooth, steady motion. An optional right-ascension motor drive is available. Two medium power 1.25" diameter Plossl eyepieces (25mm & 10mm) and a Barlow 2x lens are included. Additional 1.25" eyepieces are available. Also included is a dust-free cleaning cloth, a map of the surface of the moon and a moon filter designed for reducing moon glare, and a poster of the solar system. The primary mirror is collimated (aligned) at the factory, but the scope does not include collimation aides, tools or instructions. All reflector telescopes show an inverted image, so purchase an optional erector eyepiece for daytime terrestrial viewing. Because the included paper instructions offer limited guidance, we provide buyers with an online full-color photograph, step-by-step assembly guide so you'll be up and running without having to struggle with a complex assembly diagram. -

Ink-black darkness is exactly what we amateur astronomers are after for observing with a telescope and astrophotography sessions. It's hard to imagine any amateur astronomer complaining about it being too dark in the field. The only exception would be immediately after a, shall we say, painful and abrupt meeting between a telescope tripod leg and your toes. After such a stubbing experience, you probably wished you had some way of knowing exactly where your astronomy equipment was, without disrupting your dark-adapted vision. Wish no longer. Orion Telescope and Toe-Saver Safety Lights can help you prevent accidental bumps in the dark by virtue of three lengths of flexible red electroluminescent wire which can be wrapped around each telescope tripod leg so you always know where to wander without endangering your toes or knocking your telescope out of alignment. Orion Telescope and Toe-Saver Safety Lights include a handy control box so you can adjust the red light brightness to easily see where your astronomy gear is without disrupting your dark-adapted vision. The control box also allows you to choose between constant illumination or flash settings. The flash setting is useful if you prefer the safety lights to blink periodically during use. -
Orion
Our largest reflector optimized for astro-imaging boasts 10-inch parabolic primary optics with a very fast f/3.9 focal ratio for exceptional wide-field, deep-space imaging performance. Even faint galaxies and nebulas exhibit stunning detail with limited exposure time when photographed through this large-aperture astrograph with a CCD imager or DSLR camera. You'll get incredibly bright, crisp images that will make apo refractor aficionados green with envy - and you'll have more green in your wallet thanks to this telescope's more-affordable Newtonian design. Both the 10-inch (254mm) primary and secondary mirror feature enhanced reflectivity (94%) aluminization for bright, contrast-rich images. The 82mm minor axis secondary mirror provides excellent full-field illumination with modern CCD imagers and DSLR cameras, with less than 8% light drop-off at the edge of APS-C sized sensors. The adjustable 4-vane secondary mirror holder features very thin, 1mm thick spider vanes to minimize diffraction effects in images. A center mark on the primary mirror and three easy-grip collimation knobs make optical alignment easy and precise. Extended tube length of 7.5-inches in front of the focuser blocks intrusion of off-axis light, ensuring optimum image contrast. -

This is a big, friendly horse of a telescope you can ride off into the sunset with, and then thrill to well resolved celestial views when twilight fades. The SW 10" DOB is an very satisfying telescope to own, an instrument that will provide a lifetime of continuing exploration of the heavens. This telescope will hit the sweet-spot for many amateurs, providing all the capability and value you are seeking in a large aperture telescope. Sky-Watcher's revolutionary truss-support concept allows the optical tube's front and back cells to collapse together, aligning on the truss support rods which can then be locked down for easy and secure telescope transport. This one piece, low-hassle OTA design is mechanically simple and results in a large aperture telescope that can be reasonably handled and transported by one individual. This innovation gives Sky-Watcher users tremendous functional ease-of-transportability. -

In addition, there are no "dead spots" -- so you can point your telescope anywhere above the horizon, whereas, other mounts block the telescope tube at certain points of rotation. This mount comes standard with AC connection, but also accepts 8 AA cell batteries for use at home or in the field (Batteries sold separately). The GoToNova computerized control system is by far the most technologically advanced automated tracking system available on the market today. With a database of 80,000 celestial objects, including all of the most famous galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, not to mention the planets, you'll be able to enjoy star gazing with the simple push of a button. There is no need to align the telescope, with GPS, it knows its location. The GoToNova Controller is much easier to use than other similar products. The hand controller is more intuitive with menu categories better organized. It also has a larger LCD screen with more lines of content compared with the competition. With the easy-to-use hand controller you can easily set up your telescope and select where you want to go. -
